The Europe mission, coordinated by Université Paris-Est, is holding an information session on the opportunities offered by the ERC (European Research Council) programme on 14 March 2019 at Université Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée (UPEM). This meeting aims to give attendees an introduction to these grants and advice on improving their applications, with testimonials from an expert and a laureate.

What is the ERC programme?

The ERC (European Research Council) programme funds scientific excellence at the frontiers of knowledge. It is an "open scientific" programme dedicated to exploratory research, whose sole selection criterion is scientific excellence. Ambitious projects are encouraged with funding of several million euros over a period of up to 5 years.

The ERC offers 3 main individual grants:

  • Starting Grant, for young researchers two to seven years after passing their thesis;
  • Consolidator Grant, for young researchers seven to twelve years after passing their thesis;
  • Advanced Grant, for senior researchers.

Attendees will be given an introduction to these grants and advice on improving their applications, with testimonials from an expert and a laureate, and help from the ERC National Contact Point, which will be attending.
